Who is responsible for this forum? šŸ˜…

In here are alot of wired posts. Is nobody cleaning up in here and delete scam? :grimacing:

Maybe we can add some security to avoid it.
Phone numbers are nice because they are mostly KYCā€™d
Or telegram, its easy to add and also requires a phone number so it would come out of the box :+1:

Iā€™m removing the posts when itā€™s on my time zone, but they are persistently spamming the Litecoin forum. I do not know why we are under attack (maybe someone that needs Litecoin to fall in price).

Not everyone uses Telegram. I for one dislike it.

Many crypto users run a mile from KYC and additional identifying measures on a website. I think something pseudononymous like a litecoin public key would be fine.

That might be too tricky. If so, easiest would be just to have a posting-delay and moderation on any user which hasnā€™t posted before. That would discourage 99% of spammers.

Blockquote

thatā€™s the way to go, imo.

I fully agree with your statement
I hate kyc stuff too

But without this is the result.
Low security which is easy to break and spam with bullshit.

Even if mods ban accounts, if there is no security you take the next email and you can continue.

I see 2 ways, improve security to prevent spam or let it like it is but then nobody likes to use it either because of the spam

Do you know people willing to fund an alternative to Discord that is far more flexible for customizations? I could help developing such software if there is demand for it.

I donā€™t know I fully understand your reply.

Since some weeks there is a official Discord with caretakers, Litecoin Foundation and alot of users. Arround 850 in total.

And you would like to create a alternate with more custom options?

For me Iā€™m fine with discord.
And it dosenā€™t matter what you use or craft there is always somebody crying its bullshit and there is better stuff blabla

What are your skills?
Im looking for a front-end devā€¦
Iā€™m pretty talented in multidimensional data structures, but arranging pixels drives me crazy

ā€œDiscourseā€ (the forum engine that is being used here, at ā€œlitecointalkā€) uses Ruby on Rails. Iā€™m offering building an entirely different engine that has minimal dependencies (not even SQL or NoSQL databases needed). Because now there is ā€œLog-In with Metamaskā€, I was wondering if there was demand for a forum where one can have a portable profile (as an example, the same private key that you use to lor logging-in in ā€œlitecointalkā€ could be the private key that you use to log-in on ā€œbitcointalkā€), no longer needing an email or multiple registrations.

Think about it: your profile is portable, so everyone can be confident that ā€œFalxā€ on ā€œlitecointalkā€ is the same ā€œFalxā€ on ā€œbitcointalkā€ because we can see that the public key for signatures (thus, log-in) is the same across different forums.

Sounds good

For such case I would simply use a private key where never coins go on it.

Apps like Status for Ethereum are amazing, and litecoin must be careful not to get left behind. (Are you reading this, Litecoin Foundation?)

Nevertheless, we must take heed that every different public forum divides the audience and dilutes the message. For example, I am not on Telegram so miss out on anything said there.

Out of my experience you did not miss anything if you arenā€™t in the Litecoin Telegram.
Itā€™s just a flood of price discussion

This forum is owned by @Xinxi and not the Litecoin Foundation.
I wish there was less spam too - and last year I made a lot of changes to decrease these spam users. Unfortuantely Discourse (the forum software) has really bad bot protection, so itā€™s really up to us mods/admins to clean up the spam.

Sounds like annoying daily routine

Well, in a perfect world we are all brothers. In a perfect world there are no bullies, No abuse, All good and peachy. Reality is quite different. I for once would not use the same Login on all platforms. A hacker needs one Item more to hack into all your easily logged in sites networks.
