I bought LTC over five years ago and transferred them to paper wallets. I want to send them on, so I downloaded Litecoin Core (took 5 days in my rural area,) made a new wallet, and tried to transfer one of the paper wallets. I went to the “Receive” button, copied the private code into the “Label” and put in the amount of LTC I want to transfer. Nothing happens. There doesn’t seem to be any way to “Execute.” The only button to push is "Create new receiving address, and that doesn’t do anything.
What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, I never used litecoin-core, but maybe I can help.
I’m not sure what you mean by “paper wallet” here. If you wrote a seed-phrase (12 words usually), the you can use any popular multi-currency wallet to get access to it (e.g. Rabby, OKX, Coinbase, maybe even Metamask). These are the lightweight wallets that look into the blockchain and only check your address instead of loading entire blockchain locally.
But I have a suspicion that you have a Private Key instead (a long alpha-numeric string). In that case you can still use the same wallets above but instead of importing from the Seed Phrase you should select the option to import from the Private Key.
I’ve only did the private Key import with EVM-compatible wallets so not sure how that will work with LTC, but it’s a try.

I do in fact have a paper wallet with a private key. I am stymied by the fact that Litecoin seems to want to use the entire blockchain, so I downloaded the Litecoin Core wallet and endured the 5 days it took to download the entire blockchain. My next step was to transfer the paper wallet to the Litecoin Core wallet. I am not able to do that. There are no indications that anything is going on.
I know the Litecoin Core wallet can receive Litecoin because I had a residual cash amount in Coinbase and bought a dollar’s worth of Litecoin and successfully transferred it to the Litecoin Core wallet.
The litecoin folks on telegram wanted me to go to livemainnet.en-gopd.online to reset the protocol on my paper wallet. I always get to the screen that says “Oops… Something went wrong.”
I will try next to transfer my paper wallet to MetaMask and continue from there.

I just discovered the URL that tells you about your wallet. I put in my public key and in fact, I have my LiteCoin in my paper wallet. Just have to discover how to send it.

I’m not sure about this, because never tried it, in the Litecoin core client the private key can be imported using the console, then enter the command ‘importprivkey’ followed by your key.
