"Open wallet" freezes/crashes Litecoin qt program (litecoin core)

Hello fellow litecoiners!

I am using Litecoin Core for the first time, so please understand that I am a noob when it comes to this.

I downloaded and installed litecoin core and network on a hdd in my PC.
Now, when I go to File > Open wallet or even hoovering with the mouse at Open wallet causes the Litecoin core program to crash.
I have tried this a lot of times and every time is the same result.

Please help a fellow out!

Can you open the Litecoin data directory? Search to forum to find out where you can find it for your computer, and then look for a debug.log file. Can you share the text from the debug.log file? It should hopefully contain info related to the crash?
