hey I have a lightcoin-qt wallet don’t think its updated since 2013, whoops. I went to check on it and was 350 weeks behind and states, alert key compromised, update required. also states wallet(out of sync) balance 0.00.
Is this just showing as its out of sync?
Whats my next step do I let transactions catch up or update first?
How or where do I update?
any support or links to similar threads would be great.

Yes you can make update done first or you direct click back up wallet then copy the wallet.dat then get a new laptop or computer download Litecoin core then put your wallet.dat into there
cool thank you so much, I downloaded litecoin core but the wallet is still showing as empty.
Will this change when it has caught up with the chain (currently 5 years behind) or have I somehow lost my litecoin somewhere?
Is there a step I have missed to get the correct balance to show?

Did you get your wallet.dat and paste it over to Litecoin core?
did you have balance in the old wallet?
do you have the old software still installed?
