In windows, I downloaded the blockchain, and afterwards went into settings and uncheck the box that prunes data to 2G. Now every time I try to load LItecoin Core, it gives me a message I need to rebuild the database to use unpruned mode. When I click ok it gives me an error “error opening block database”
I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled the app, same issue. Someone was telling me to search the exporer for %appdata% but I never did find that… Help please
Your message seems scammy. I’ll pass
New account? no posts?
Just go ahead and ask me for my wallet file already
A. First, close Litecoin Core completely
B. Find your Litecoin data directory:
- Press Windows + R
- Type: %appdata%\Litecoin
- Press Enter
C. In this folder:
- Delete these folders (backup first if desired):
- blocks
- chainstate
- database
- Keep wallet.dat (VERY IMPORTANT - this has your coins)
D. Restart Litecoin Core:
- It will begin downloading the blockchain fresh
- This time it will be in unpruned mode
Awesome that worked! I was searching inside explorer instead of the run window.
Not any more, deleted and gone.
Thanks for not falling.

You’ll need to manually delete the old pruned blockchain data. Press Win + R, type %appdata%\Litecoin
, and hit Enter. In that folder, delete the blocks
and chainstate
folders. Then restart Litecoin Core—it should rebuild the full blockchain from scratch. Make sure you have enough disk space for the full chain (100GB+).
