Hey there, big time BTC Maxi here, but wanted to branch out a little in the crypto world, with ONLY coins that had capped supply, proof of work, and real decentralization. So I found litecoin.
To be honest, Im a little excited about it. I know a lot of holders have been losing hope or inspiration but I believe the tokenomics are there. I believe it to be the ‘silver’ to bitcoin (gold). I’m looking into getting a mining setup going, and hopefully I can get a dedicated node as well. I am a long term investor and don’t plan on touching my stash for decades.
I kind of feel like this is what Bitcoiners felt like back in the early days, and I’m happy to hop aboard.
We’re lucky to have you, especially if you do run your own node.
All the same…If you hodl your litecoin and your bitcoin, with what will you transact? Just fiat? BCH?
I will transact with earned income(fiat) until retirement
That is a contradiction in terms.
How can you be a BTC maxi without the skills it requieres to keep those?
Similar thinking over here.
Just started another topic before seeing yours: why choose Litecoin over Dogecoin?
The two are not comparable. Doge is used for transactions not for store of value.
It is a contradiction in a way, I was aware I would come off as a hypocrite when I wrote it. But truth is litecoin is so similar to bitcoin if you like one how could you not like the other?
I see litecoin as a very long term investment. A few decades, I plan to store it solely to pass it to my offspring when I’m of old age
Meaning — store of value possible for Litecoin since supply is capped, while Dogecoin does not have a max supply?
Good plan.
Correct
When you hear/read of someone breaking down how many people can own a whole bitcoin, plug in the numbers for litecoin and it gives more people a sense of full ownership. Just like silver. This is just my philosophy
An astute ‘hop’ imho. I doubt you will have to wait decades to justify it.
The value difference between BTC and LTC is currently simply silly given the similar properties. With just 4x volume LTC should be way higher.
As more and more BTC maximilists and ‘whales’ realise a hop now could pay off far more than holding just BTC, such ‘hopping’ will gather pace and should result in an exponential rise for LTC.
I don’t hear anything about litecoin in crypto podcasts. Nor do I read anything about btc holders looking to make a move into it. I don’t know when or if it will ever happen. But it would make sense at some point
Some Crypto podcasts talk about the newest and forgot about fundamentals,
Most podcast just talk about how wonderful crypto is and that it’ll change the world.
Roughly 30% of world’s population has no smart phone, some even can’t read or write.
At long last litecoin has a good podcast, [Eighty Four Million] That’s a good start at least.
Its a Podcast site we don’t need to link to.
Welcome to Litecoin! Your BTC maxis perspective will definitely add value here. Litecoin’s capped supply, PoW consensus, and strong decentralization make it a solid “silver” companion to Bitcoin’s gold. Mining and running a node are great ways to support the network and deepen your connection. Many longtime holders share your long-term vision—Litecoin’s steady development and community keep it promising. Holding for decades aligns well with its ethos. Excited to see your journey unfold in this space!
I really wish I could be present for the Summit. Hopefully a lot of good footage of full speeches will be uploaded.
I started following 84M podcast last night. I listen to a lot of pods while im working/driving. That and audiobooks. I wonder if there are any LTC books that speak on it’s uniqueness. A lot of the BTC books go over the same info, what a blockchain is, history of money, benefits over fiat. I like to hone in on the specific strengths of the crypto
That’s a great idea. The Litecoin Foundation should pursue that. An easy-to-read history of litecoin and why it makes sense.
There is a ton of info on the web: [ANN] Litecoin - a lite version of Bitcoin. Launched!
That is the introduction of the idea.
