I sent accidentally litecoin to a bitcoin address on my Bitvavo - Please help me. How do I recover my Litecoin?
Please advise me how I can recover my litecoin.
I contacted Binance and they told me the transaction is irreversable and that I should contact Bitvavo. I replied stating that the transaction cannot be confirmed if sent to a bitcoin address and I asked can the LTC not be recovered to my Binance wallet.
They replied that is not posibly.
It is very annoying that still there is no warning if a user enters a Bitcoin format address when sending Litecoin.
The addresses are compatible, but generally not used like that anymore. Implementing a warning would be so simple.
In theory Bitvavo can access the LTC with some effort. If you have the private key for a Bitcoin address, you can access the same address on the LTC network, too. Their willingness to do so is the question. Only they can help you.
Unfortunately, sending Litecoin to a Bitcoin address usually results in lost funds, as the networks are different. Some exchanges or wallets might be able to help if they control the private keys for that Bitcoin address, but many do not support recovery. Your best bet is to keep contacting Bitvavo’s support with your transaction details and ask if they can manually recover the coins. Always double-check addresses before sending in the future.
