Two threads here this week were about old Litecoin Core wallets. One person couldn’t find their passphrase, and another has a 2018 wallet file that makes Core close during sync. Both had kept backups, but hadn’t looked at them in years.
It made me curious how people here handle this:
- Do you ever test your wallet backup, for example on a spare device with a small amount?
- If you use Litecoin Core, where do you keep the wallet file and the passphrase, and are they stored separately?
- If you’ve switched wallets over the years, do you keep a note of which backup belongs to which wallet? In one of those threads, a 12-word phrase turned out to be from a different wallet entirely.
From the support side, mixing up which backup goes with which wallet causes a lot of stress, so I’d like to hear what habits work for you.
