Booted up 2014 PC and found litecoin core - sync and wallet help

I’m cleaning out my PC at my parents and booted up a really old PC. Apparently I had litecoin core going back then. I showed 0.00 balance so it probably is empty. Questions.

  1. Does it take forever to sync? Like it seems to be like going to take many days.
  2. How do I know if my wallet has anything? I looked at the debug log info and just curious.

Not expecting to have a goldmine, but just wondering what the best process is these days. Thanks!

I think you can update to the latest version or you can reset settings and synchronize. It takes little longer on old PCs. Maybe look for *.dat files , backups.

Nice find! If your Litecoin Core wallet is syncing from 2014, be prepared for a long wait—the blockchain has grown significantly. First, ensure you have enough disk space (50GB+). Enable pruning in settings (-prune=550) to save space if needed.

If your wallet.dat file is password-protected, make sure you remember it! Once synced, check your balance under “Transactions.” If sync stalls, try adding nodes manually or reinstalling the latest version.

For security, back up wallet.dat before any major changes. If you’re stuck, share details (error logs, sync progress) and the community can help. Good luck—hope there’s some LTC waiting for you!
