Trading LTC/BTC back and forth by rate?

I’m curious if this is a thing. Does any of you do this? Is it worth it?

So, I was looking at the LTC/BTC ratio for the last month and just playing with numbers. If I had bought 100 LTC-worth of BTC back on February 13, I would’ve gotten around 0.48 BTC. Then if today I did the inverse, it would translate to 136LTC.

Are any downsides other than overcomplicating taxes?

I meant by ratio, not rate.

At current USD/LTC and USD/BTC Exchange rates you would benefit slightly doing a ltc to BTC swap and exchange. But, all of the swap and exchange would both count towards US capital gains. So, any slight gains you may have created by that trade would be lost to Uncle Sam.
